Athena Academy is an independent school for bright, dyslexic students in Palo Alto. We are a community of people passionate about providing high quality education for students who think differently. We work collaboratively to design curriculum, and truly enjoy coming to work because of the teaching teams, the students, the supportive parents, and the creative energy on campus.

Athena Academy utilizes the teaching methods that have shown great success in helping dyslexic students to learn the strategies and techniques that best suit them. We recognize that the students we serve are primarily visual-spatial learners. This innate thinking style gives these students deficits in learning to read, but gives them tremendous advantages that we can use to teach them the way they were meant to learn. We empower our students to use their dyslexic differences to their advantage.

We recognize that these students must have a calm, focused mind in order to learn. We create an environment and employ methods specifically to provide and maintain focused attention in our learners.
