New Head of School 22-23

After an extensive search, the Athena Academy Board of Trustees and Head of School (HOS) Search Committee are honored to announce that Victoria Trevor has accepted our offer for Head of School, and has officially begun her tenure as of on July 1, 2022. She has been working collaboratively with the Interim Head of School- Donna Mburi, the administration staff, and teachers to ensure a smooth transition.

Ms. Trevor was selected from an impressive pool of candidates. The HOS Search Committee reviewed and rated over 50 applicant resumes, had screening interviews with 10, and then narrowed the list to 7 candidates. In the first round, each of the 7 candidates had their own, 2 hour long, HOS Committee panel interview with a consistent set of questions. Candidates were evaluated on a clear list of criteria.  In the final round, three finalists were invited to meet with the faculty, the administrative staff, parents, and the Board. After receiving feedback from the various stakeholder groups, Victoria stood out as the clear front-runner and the HOS Search Committee unanimously voted to offer her the position.

We believe Victoria will take Athena Academy to the next phase of growth while preserving Athena’s strong community and mission. Victoria has a very enthusiastic and optimistic personality which compliments her strong work ethic. She has worked extensively in primary school administration, and is known to be very student centric. She understands that students should be encouraged to take challenging risks, be curious, and have fun. Victoria values Athena Academy’s commitment to Dyslexic students and our strength-based approach to learning. With Victoria’s collaborative leadership style, we know she will work closely with our administration, teachers, parents, and students to help solidify Athena Academy as a leader in Dyslexia education.  Her brief biography is below.

We are so grateful for Donna Mburi’s leadership and commitment to Athena Academy during her tenure as Interim Head of School. Donna and Victoria have enthusiastically agreed to collaborate ahead of Victoria’s official start as Head of School for the 2022-2023 Academic Year and beyond.
