Athena Academy shifted to online learning for all students March 9th and the teachers and students have risen to the challenge. Our unique blend of “in-person” whole group classes, one to one teacher check-ins, and independent work time with teacher-created videos to guide hands-on projects and reinforcement of foundational skills have ensured that our students continue to be connected with their friends and teachers while moving forward with their academics.
The teachers have been keeping everyone’s sense of humor up while acknowledging the challenges that sheltering in place can raise. The students have access to virtual ‘lunchtime hangouts’ with friends and our SEL specialist, art classes, music lessons, and drama, as well as one to one meetings with your SEL specialist.
To say I’m amazed at how well the transition to online classes has gone would be an understatement. As each week passes I’m watching my child continue to learn and grow academically. I appreciate the hands-on approach the teachers have been able to create from a distance learning environment. It speaks volumes about the time and love that is going into Athena’s online program. THANK YOU! - elementary school parent
We have been quite impressed with and appreciative of the teachers and administration during this difficult time. Our child has been handling the change very well, no small part due to the dedication of Athena's teachers and staff. - 4th grade parent
You all are doing a fabulous job!! Thank you for staying on top of this and being rock star supporters of the students and their families. - 7th grade mom
Thank you to all of the staff who have been able to adapt, and help our children adapt, to this new way of teaching/learning. - middle school parent
Our daughter seems to be doing well with distance learning, though she says she doesn't enjoy it. (It is pretty cool to see her "school personality"!) I am grateful that Athena teachers continue to teach our kids through this crisis: The normalizing effect of having a regular school day is really important to keep fear and anxiety at bay. - 8th grade parent
