Admissions

Admissions: Your Path to Confidence.

Everything changes when your child feels confident about how they learn.

Choosing the right school for your dyslexic or twice-exceptional child is one of the most important decisions you'll make. At Athena Academy, we understand this journey—and we make our admissions process as supportive and clear as possible, so you always know what comes next.

Initial Contact & Assessment

Step 1: Start with an Inquiry

Begin by sharing a bit about your family through our Inquiry Form or by reaching out directly. This helps us understand your child's unique learning profile and guide you through our process with care.

Flexible Placement base on readiness

Step 2: Become Acquainted with Athena's Approach

You're invited to join a Virtual Information Session where you'll learn how we help dyslexic and twice-exceptional students own their neurodiverse talents.

  • During the school year: Live virtual sessions with Q&A
  • Summer months: Recorded sessions so you can start immediately

Families may tour our campus after the information session, and we're flexible and happy to arrange visits whenever works best for your family.

Upcoming Virtual Information Session.
  • November 5, 2025 from 9 AM to 10:15 AM
  • November 19, 2025 from 9 AM to 10:15 AM

Submission Requirements

Step 3: Complete Your Application

When you're ready to take the next step in our admissions process, you'll submit a formal application along with documentation that helps us understand how your child learns best.

What we typically review:

  • Assessment measures and professional summaries (such as WISC-IV, GORT-4, GORT-5, Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement III-NU Math Fluency & Calculation subtests, IVA-Plus)
  • Recent report cards or written evaluations from current school
  • Any additional assessments (we can connect you with specialists if needed)

This information allows us to create a complete picture of your child's strengths and learning needs.

Rigorous Academics

Step 4: Your Child Experiences Athena

Your child will spend time in our classrooms, experiencing firsthand what it feels like to learn in an environment designed for minds like theirs.

  • During school year: Typically two days to observe and participate
  • Summer visits: Often three days to allow students to settle in and engage more deeply

This is where many families see the "aha" moment—watching their child light up in a community of similar learners.

Admission Decision

Step 5: Receive Your Admissions Decision

Following the visit, families who are a good fit may receive an enrollment agreement to officially become part of the Athena Academy family.
