A Silicon Valley entrepreneur and mother to two delightfully dyslexic twins, Carla has a hands-on understanding of dyslexic children's needs. Armed with an MBA from Stanford and rich experience in music education and mindfulness practices for children, she sought effective methods for her children's learning. This quest led her to create Athena Academy's unique curriculum. Utilizing her entrepreneurial and managerial skills, Carla ensures proper governance, finding the right educators for the children.

 

Matthew Duncan

President

With a diverse international career and the father of a gifted dyslexic child attending Athena Academy, Matthew brings a global perspective to our board. He's a Partner at Ernst & Young LLP and a former Project Manager for an international development organization. Matthew's background in electrical engineering, operations management, and MBA, along with his status as an IRS-enrolled agent, make him instrumental in financial oversight and strategic direction.

Specializing in developmental, strengths-based, and multicultural approaches to counseling, Dr. Chou's passion for supporting gifted and twice-exceptional individuals aligns with our mission. His contribution to state, national, and international conferences on giftedness and twice-exceptionality reinforces Athena Academy's commitment to promoting healthy growth, confidence, and positive self-esteem.

As the CEO of wikiHow, the world's largest how-to website, Elizabeth has a history of innovative leadership. Her 1500% growth in wikiHow reflects her exceptional strategic vision. Her Bachelor's in Computer Science and MBA from Stanford, coupled with experience at Apple, speaks to her ability to provide Athena with technological guidance and oversight. Elizabeth's dedication to supporting women in tech aligns with our commitment to inclusive education.
